Xbox series X stock – live: today’s UK news on the replenishment of Argos, Game, Smyths and more
UPDATE: Xbox Series X is now out of stock at Very and Game. Read on for more information.
The Xbox Series X launched in November of last year, but despite its runaway success, it’s still nearly impossible to find Microsoft’s next-gen console in stock anywhere in the UK. Whether you’re looking online or in stores, the new Xbox is seemingly nowhere to be found.
A continuing semiconductor shortage coupled with a planed global supply chain has slowed production at a breakneck pace, leaving buyers in the UK wondering where they can buy an Xbox.
The smaller, less powerful Xbox Series S is much easier to find in stock, but the more advanced Xbox Series X is in more demand and sells out within minutes of going on sale. Knowing when and where the new console will be restocked next is key to grabbing one before they’re all purchased.
That’s why we launched our live blog on Xbox Stock Alerts, and if you’re wondering where to buy an Xbox Series X in the UK today before Christmas, we’re here to help. Below, we’ll keep you up to date with the latest live replenishment updates as they happen, along with all the news on planned replenishment dates, new games and accessories, and milestone events.

Well that’s all for us for another day. It has been exciting, with UK retailers rushing to get as many consoles as possible on the shelves before Christmas.
We’ve seen restockings at Very, Game, and Costco, with even more buyers reporting the availability of Xbox Series X consoles in store at Smyths Toys.
If you’re still empty-handed, don’t worry – we’ll resume the search tomorrow morning when that mid-December Xbox push is sure to continue.

You can play Xbox games on your laptop
It might help while you wait for the Xbox Series X to come back in stock: Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can play select Xbox games on their PCs right now using Microsoft’s cloud streaming service.
You don’t need a gaming PC, just a fairly fast internet connection. Xbox Cloud Gaming streams games from Microsoft’s servers to your laptop or phone, through your internet browser or the Xbox app. How does cloud gaming work? Well, it’s basically like being on a Zoom call with a game that you control. It really looks a bit like witchcraft.
Cloud gaming requires an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription (£ 32.99, Argos.co.uk), which unlocks on-demand access to over 100 games. Fortunately, decent laptops are much easier to find than the Xbox X series. If you’re considering an upgrade, check out our list of the best laptops in 2021.

Xbox Series X hard drive has £ 25 off Amazon
While waiting for more Xbox Series X stock to materialize, you may want to consider increasing the available storage for your future console.
The Seagate 1TB Storage Expansion Card (£ 194.99 Amazon.co.uk) doubles the capacity of the Xbox Series X you don’t yet own. It’s 11% off, so if the thought of running out of space keeps you awake at night, now is a good opportunity to buy one.
With inflated download sizes and games like Microsoft Flight Simulator (£ 59.99, Very.co.uk) occupying up to 100GB of the Xbox’s built-in hard drive, it probably won’t be long before expansion drives are a required accessory.

Read our review of the new Nintendo Switch OLED
If handheld gaming is more your thing, check out our review of the new Nintendo Switch OLED. The console has for the first time an OLED display, which is larger than before and produces more vivid colors and deeper blacks. There’s also a redesigned kickstand and doubles the internal storage of its predecessor.
Our reviewer said of the £ 309.99 console: “The bigger screen is fantastic and playing games in handheld mode is absolute fun. The kickstand is so solid and makes us want to never look at that little rocker on the back of the original Switch ever again … it’s absolutely the best version of the console yet.

Xbox series X is in stock at Very
Very is selling the Xbox Series X for £ 449.99, with a delivery date slated for December 31. It probably won’t happen in time for Christmas, but we’re nearing the big day now that, in our professional opinion, it’s your best bet to grab an Xbox Series X in 2021.
