Voyager’s Space Micro completes delivery of seven flight-level single-board computers to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory for SunRISE
SAN DIEGO (Voyager Space PR) – Space Micro Inc., powered by Voyager Space, recently delivered a total of seven (7) flight level single board computers (SBCs) to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California for the experiment space-based Sun Radio Interferometer (SunRISE).
Scheduled for launch in 2024-2025, SunRISE will collect data from a network of small satellites to help scientists better understand how the Sun generates and releases storms of solar particles into space and how these storms influence the environment. interplanetary. According to JPL, SunRISE relies on six solar-powered CubeSats – each the size of a toaster oven – to simultaneously observe radio images of low-frequency emissions of solar activity and share them via Deep Space. NASA Network. The CubeSats constellation will fly within 10 kilometers of each other, above Earth’s atmosphere, which would otherwise block the radio signals that SunRISE will observe. Together, the six CubeSats will create 3D maps to identify the origin of bursts of giant particles on the Sun and their evolution as they expand into space. The six individual spacecraft will also work together to map, for the first time, the pattern of magnetic field lines extending from the Sun into interplanetary space.
