Thomas Kessinger Obituary (2021) – Hillsboro, OH
Thomas R. Kessinger, 77, of Hillsboro, died Sunday evening August 8, 2021 at Bethesda North Hospital in Montgomery.
He was born September 24, 1943 in Hillsboro, Ohio, the son of the late John W. and Delores B. Hamilton Kessinger.
Mr. Kessinger was a calibration technician working at the General Electric Company in Peebles with Tektronix and had worked for Nolan’s TV in Hillsboro, Ohio for 30 years. He graduated from the Hillsboro High School class of 1961 and received his physics degree from Ohio State University in 1967, where he was also enrolled in the ROTC program. After graduating, Tom served in the United States Army as a first lieutenant in Vietnam. He was an avid amateur radio enthusiast and a member of the Highland Amateur Radio Association with the call letters KC8RZF.
Tom was one of those really smart guys who could fix anything. He loved to take care of his property and his garden. His family always came first and he enjoyed spending time with them all, but especially with the grandchildren. He has worked all his life to care for and support his family.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Jean Berry Kessinger, who was married on February 22, 1975; four children, Todd (Shevonna) Kessinger of Hillsboro, Bryan (Laura) Kessinger of Lebanon, Angela (Ethan) Mitchell of Wilmington and Amy (Todd) Warren of Greenfield; 16 grandchildren, Brandon Kessinger, Caleb Tipton, Connor Kessinger, Skylar (Mariah) Thompson, Emily (JD) Moberly, Hannah Kessinger, Thomas Mitchell, Hayden (Leah) Thompson, Todd Warren Jr., Abigail, Lucy, Charlotte, Amelia , Susannah, Charles and Jennica Warren; three great-grandchildren, Cayden Moberly, Khyler Tipton and Marley Kessinger; one sister, Jean (Robert) Deleonard of Clearwater, Florida; and three brothers, Robert Kessinger, Donald (Linda) Kessinger and Gary (Donna) Kessinger of Clearwater, Florida.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Kessinger; and one brother, Earl Kessinger.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday August 16 at Turner & Son Funeral Home. Pastor Jeff Griffin will officiate. The family’s private burial, with military honors presented by the Highland County Veterans Honor Guard, will be held at Hillsboro Cemetery.
Visitations will be on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Monday from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
