RECAP: Women’s T&F Indoor Debut at 2022 PSAC Championships
Shippensburg University’s women’s indoor track and field team earned third place in the all-conference medley relay on Saturday to kick things off at the 2022 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Indoor Championships hosted by Edinburgh University.
The quartet of Isabelle Gulgert, Kayla Dalhouse, Sydney Morgan and Kyra Gerber ran 12:46.43, trailing only Edinboro and Seton Hill’s efforts. The Raiders had a three-second gap over fourth-placed Kutztown.
Shippensburg’s other points of the day came from the freshman Nicola Pugge;, who placed seventh in the pentathlon with a score of 2,910 points. Puggé’s most productive event was the 60-meter hurdles, in which she posted a time of 9.74 seconds.
The Raiders had five preliminary performances that advanced to Sunday’s finals, highlighted by Lea Graybill winning the first seed in the 400 meters (57.19 seconds) and the third seed in the 200 meters (25.01 seconds).
Sasha Lee will be the No. 4 seed in the 60-meter hurdles after running 9.25 seconds, and Penning Carson qualified for her first 60-metre hurdles final with a time of 9.39 seconds. Both women set new college records with their time.
Caroline Mastria will join Graybill in the 400-metre final; she won the No. 6 seed with a time of 59.54 seconds.
Adriana Baxter nearly qualified for the 60m final after clocking a new personal best of 7.95 seconds. Baxter finished ninth with the performance.
The Raiders sit in 11th place after opening day.
Competition will resume at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.
