RECAP: Women’s Athletics Compete in Alvernia, East Stroudsburg

The University of Shippensburg women’s indoor track and field team posted eight Top 5 finishes Saturday at the Plex Shootout in Alvernia, while the team’s pitchers traveled to East Stroudsburg to compete in the Deschriver Invitational .

In Alverne, Sasha Lee led the contingent on the court with a season-high 17-foot-5 ½-inch long jump that surpassed the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying standard and placed sixth in the league standings.

Sara Fletcher matched SU’s season-best clearance in the high jump, clearing the bar at 4 feet 11 inches (1.50 meters).

On the track, Lea Graybill won the 60 meters with a time of 7.75 seconds. Beautiful Weikert took third place in the 5K, and Lieke Black third in the 60 meter hurdles.

In East Stroudsburg, Kate Matrisciano landed a season-best shot put 43 feet, 5 ¼ inches, which ranks third in the conference standings. Already Winkler nearly hit the auto-PSAC mark in the shot, throwing a 37-foot-8 PR.

madisen kling led the Raiders in shot put with a fourth-place throw of 47-foot-3, while Winkler also recorded a PR in shot-put with a top throw of 37-foot-6.

Shippensburg travel to VMI next weekend for a crucial meeting ahead of the upcoming conference championships.
