NTRC to launch guidelines and standards for radio amateurs
The National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (NTRC) is calling on amateur radio operators to participate in the consultation on the draft guidelines and standards for radio amateurs in Dominica.
Operating an amateur radio is a personal and rewarding hobby for its many enthusiasts, but it is also a crucial source of communication in the event of a disaster. However, there is limited advice for those looking to use this medium. As a result, the NTRC publishes draft standards guidelines for the operation of amateur radio services in Dominica.
This means of telecommunications is governed by the Telecommunications Act (No. 8 of 2000) and its associated regulations, in the Commonwealth of Dominica and the NTRC is responsible for ensuring compliance with the legislation by service providers and other users. telecommunications, including amateur radio. the operators. The mandate of the NTRC also bears the responsibility of managing and supervising the radio spectrum allocated to the amateur radio service in the Commonwealth of Dominica.
The consultation, which will run from June 10 to July 12, 2021, will allow the active participation and help of local radio amateurs and fraternities to collaborate. The consultation will take the form of online and face-to-face meetings with various stakeholders to discuss issues relating to the guidelines. Following the initial comment period, the NTRC will review the comments and subsequently submit the revised draft Amateur Radio Guidelines and Standards for comments on the initial comments received.
