Marvin Keith Buntain, 83, Kokomo, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home on Thursday, November 4, 2021. He was born in Williams County, Ohio on May 14, 1938, to the late Charles and Bonneita (Clymer) Buntain . Marvin is survived by his daughters, Julie (Brent) Heitz of Toledo, Ohio, Sheila Richardson of Kokomo; grandson, Ryan Richardson of Kokomo; and her sister, Janet Funk of Bryan, Ohio. He is survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as some very good friends (you know who you are).

His parents died before him; grandson, Mitchell Bundy; brother, Wayne Buntain; and his sister, Sharon Nisley. Dad was an avid Amateur Radio Operator (W8JLH) and enjoyed meeting his amateur radio friends twice a month for breakfast and heading to the Hamfests in the area to see good friends who lived further afield. Dad loved to tinker with things around the house. He was happier when he was busy and liked to solve problems. He spent many hours creating craft tools for his daughter’s beading efforts, leaving little Morse code messages on them. When asked why he decorated the tools, he replied that he wanted to give the person using them a reason to smile. He will be remembered for putting a smile on the faces of the people and nurses at Ascension Pulmonary Rehabilitation Facility when he wore his mismatched fancy socks with his overalls. It was her last and last way to brighten someone’s day. Dad had a quite a sense of humor (he is what it is) and his friends and family will miss him dearly. Dad had retired from the ARO Company in Bryan, Ohio, where he was a machinist. Born and raised in Bryan, he moved to Kokomo in 2012 to live with his daughter after surviving lung cancer.

According to his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no services. Stout & Son Funeral Home helps with the arrangements. Messages of condolence can be left at www.stoutandson.com.

Thank you to the First Hospice for helping to keep Dad comfortable in his last days. “To be called by heaven, it is W8JLH who signs, 73.”
