I have sleepless nights because of the debts of the preparations for the Olympic Games

Mr. George Lamptey, chairman of the Ghana Amateur Boxing Authority, revealed that the federation was unable to participate in the world championship as it is still indebted to the hotel and caterers who provided them with services for their preparations for the last Olympic games.
He said Ghana should have entered the World Championship right after the Olympics, but was unable to do so due to their unpaid debt.
Speaking to Isaac Worlanyo Wallace of Rainbow Radio, he said Ghana could not participate in the World Championship because we still owe people our preparations for the Olympics. We still haven’t paid for the accommodation we booked during our preparation.
Due to the challenge, we were unable to raise funds for the world championship.
He further revealed that the owner of the hotel they booked had threatened to sue the federation and that alone was giving them sleepless nights.
âI spend sleepless nights. The owner of the hotel we booked threatened to sue the federation. We presented our budget to the Sports Authority and we chased the problem and yet nothing good came of it. “
Mr Lamptey said he was disappointed that Ghana lost the opportunity to participate in the World Championship because of the debt.
âI am sad to say that other African countries have invested a lot in their teams, but ask the sports ministry how much money they have spent on the Ghanaian team. Of the 52 African countries, only Ghana managed to win bronze. If they had given us more support, we would have won several more medals.
