Hillsborough County Emergency Response Teams are always ready to protect the health and well-being of residents and visitors in the event of an emergency. At its quarterly awards ceremony on May 5, the Hillsborough County Board of Commissioners honored these dedicated individuals with three proclamations.

The first proclamation declared June 20 to June 26, 2022, as amateur radio week, which celebrates the hard work and commitment of local amateur radio operators who have contributed countless hours of free radio communications during states of emergency. In addition, June 9, 2022 has been recognized as Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Day, honoring local CERT members. CERT members are volunteers who play a vital role in assisting Hillsborough County first responders in the event of an emergency. A proclamation declaring from May 1 to May 7, 2022, as Hurricane Preparedness Week was presented to Tim Dudley, Director of the Office of Emergency Management, highlighting “Prepare, Plan and Stay Informed,” an important motto all residents should remember during hurricane season.
