F1 news: ‘Unarthed footage’ shows Michael Masi delivering exactly what Red Bull asked for | F1 | sport

F1 fans have taken to social media to share ‘new footage’ of Michael Masi’s radio interaction with Red Bull sporting director Jonathan Wheatley during the final laps of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The new F1 season is almost underway with Red Bull unveiling their RB18 later today.
But, while attention quickly shifts to the new campaign, a few issues remain from last season’s dramatic finale.
The FIA’s investigation into the management of the race is ongoing and the findings will not be published until March 18.
The backlash from that race remains however with Hamilton supporters still furious at how the final lap unfolded.
It looked like the race would end under a safety car, before Masi stepped in to let only the cars pass between Verstappen and Hamilton before the final lap.

The decision caused fury in the Mercedes garage with Toto Wolff in disbelief at what he had witnessed.
Appeals were filed after the race, but the FIA ultimately stuck with the final race decision.
Masi has since come under intense scrutiny, with the FIA even admitting his job as race director is under threat.
Hamilton’s most ardent supporters continued to voice their support on social media.
