The seizure came following an investigation stemming from a nighttime hunting decoy operation in 2017 – during which the offender shot the decoy and was later found by officers.
During the investigation, officers discovered numerous wildlife and fishing violations involving a riverboat, which was also seized.
The person was fined $5,000 and banned from hunting for five years in connection with the decoy incident, for hunting wildlife using a light.
The truck and the river boat were confiscated. The civil forfeiture law was created to ensure that people cannot profit from illegal activities or use property in a way that could harm other people.
