Boise airport expects delays ahead of President Biden’s visit
President Joe Biden’s visit to Boise on Monday could have an impact on flights to and from Boise Airport, although the length of the delays remains to be seen.
Airport manager Rebecca Hupp said in an email Friday that delays are expected while Biden is on the ground. She said the airport could not disclose specific details on how it was preparing for the president’s arrival, citing security concerns.
The White House announced the hours for Biden’s visit on Sunday evening. He will be in Boise from 11:50 a.m. to 1:55 p.m., either at the Boise Airport or at the adjacent National Interagency Fire Center.
“We are coordinating (with) the presidential advance team to ensure adequate security and we are coordinating with our airlines to minimize the impact on passenger operations,” Hupp said.
Biden’s stop in Boise is part of a wildfire-focused tour across the West. It will also include stops in California and Colorado. He is the first sitting president to visit Idaho since Barack Obama in 2015.
On Sunday afternoon, flight tracks indicated few delays for arrivals and departures for Boise.
Hupp said passengers with questions about the flights should contact their airline for more information.
