The Kerouac project, named after the famous author Jack Kerouac, offers four writing residencies each year. If the jury selects you as the winner, you will spend three months living and writing in the same house that Kerouac wrote his best-known novels.
Housing and utilities are part of the price, and you will also receive a food allowance of $ 1,000. The organization expects you to attend a welcome dinner and a reading of your work at the end of your residency. Otherwise, you have complete freedom to work on your own novel.
Whether you have a master’s degree in literature or are self-taught, writers from all walks of life are welcome to apply.
Registration deadline: March 15, 2020
Interested in writing for television? The Disney / ABC television writing program is one of the most respected initiatives of its kind. The screenwriters selected spend a year as a personal writer on a Disney / ABC show. Past entrants include writers for hit shows like “Mad Men”, “Breaking Bad” and “Once Upon a Time”.
If the program chooses you, they will pay you a weekly salary of $ 961, with benefits. In addition to having the chance to work on real TV shows, attendees also participate in seminars and workshops with seasoned writers.
To be eligible, you must be at least 21 years old and submit two original pilot scripts for an ongoing TV series. You must also send your CV.
Opening of applications: Annually in May
